Many e-mails are exchanged daily for personal or corporate work. As a result, numerous mails keep accumulating in the inbox every day. If the number of incoming mails is high, it is very difficult to find the old mails when needed. As a result many people delete unnecessary or old e-mails. It takes more time and also causes problems in daily activities. However, Gmail users can automatically delete old mails stored in the inbox after a certain period of time. Let’s see how to automatically delete mails in Gmail—

To automatically delete old mail, first enter Gmail and click on the filter icon next to the search bar at the top. If you want to delete mails older than one year, type older_than:1y in the Has the Words option below. If you want to delete only the mails with attachments, you have to select Have Attachments. After clicking on Create Filter below, select OK option from Confirm Creating Filter popup. Now enter the next page and select ‘Delete it’ and ‘Also apply filter to matching conversation’ and click on create filter, you will see the filter creation message on the bottom left popup.

Using this method, all mails after one year can be automatically deleted from the inbox. Remember, deleted mails cannot be recovered. So be careful in selecting when deleting mails.
